Snakes, ärgere dich nicht!
I was just visiting a good friend in a hospital and their waiting room had this huge collection of old board games gathering dust... so we played! After a couple of hours we were through most of them and, through sheer boredom, started to get creative. For our next round we chose to combine game mechanics of Snakes & Ladders and Mensch, ärgere dich nicht! . We'd play on an S&L board, but each player would get 4 pieces and you'd kick a piece back to the start if you ended up on the same square. Surprisingly to us, this was a lot of fun and way less chaotic than expected - a quite decent low budget strategy game, even. She ended up winning! We've been asking ourselves why we had so much fun playing. You can find my attempt to find an answer here . :)
